Well today is Halloween which means one thing… OK so it means a lot of things (free candy, girls in risque outfits, and the end of October). The 31 on today’s date means it’s time to review my goals.
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. October was filled with performing at the New York Underground Comedy Festival, completing a daily to-do list, surviving a challenging week, and reviewing Personal Development for Smart People, and tomorrow I finish project number 44.
- A Joke a Day. I passed the 300 mark this past month, with a few favorites of Alex Trebek, reading the dictionary, and wanting to be a plumber.
- Perform Comedy 53 times. With 8 performances in October (including earlier today), I only have 4 more performances to go to reach my goal. Good thing too since we’re heading into the holiday season.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. This week’s goal is to make a video, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post it to YouTube since it’s part of a competition. Unless something drastic happens, this one may not get completed.
- Publish an Article. I continue to write Articles, but I need to take the time to look at what it takes to get published.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. The top 5 is my mainstay. Adding an email listserv has been a huge help.
- Start a business. Well we didn’t quite reach $1, we’re sitting at a whopping $.27.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. I had a good month, getting the arms back up to 13.25″.
- Never hit Snooze. Aside from a few lapses, I’ve been doing OK with this (though I still struggle on the weekends.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. I’m close to helping someone else achieve a goal, I just need to get confirmation.
Holy crap- only 2 months left in 2008! I have some ground to make up in a couple of these goals. Hopefully with the holiday breaks I’ll be able to get some stuff done- we’ll have to see. November’s goal is to finish up the rest of my stand-up performances so that I don’t have to perform in December if I don’t want to.
We are now heading into the last quarter of 2008… wow. Let’s take a look at the goals.
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. This month, I optimized my blog, lived on a $100 budget, submitted a Writer’s packet, created a time budget, and started on building my set for a stand-up competition, bringing me to a total of 40 projects.
- A Joke a Day. Whew- 274 jokes total. Some favorites from September: a canceled flight, oral surgery, and a divorce lawyer.
- Perform Comedy 53 times. I only performed 3 times in September, leaving me at 41 performances for the year.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. I wasn’t sure if we were going to make any final changes to the video from last month, but it doesn’t look like we will. You can find the video here.
- Publish an Article. I now have a few “articles” written (just check in the Article category). Now I’ll just have to take one of these ideas and get it published.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. The internal blog continues to do well where I’m floating between the Top 5 and Top 10.
- Start a business. Technically we’ve made $0.22 so far. Hopefully we’ll at least get to the $1 this month.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. This month was rough on working out. First I was still adjusting to waking up early, then it was headaches, then sore throat, and now I’m in Cincinnati. All in all in means my arms are now back down to 13″.
- Never hit Snooze. The challenge has still helped. I have hit snooze a few times (especially while here in Cincinnati), but overall I’m happy with how I’ve been waking up.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. I have one or two things that I’m lining up for this one.
I can’t believe we’re in the final 3 months of the year already. I had a pretty solid month, though I need to start making specific progress on the video (views) and the article. I also need to build a buffer back in for stand-up, as I probably won’t perform that much towards the end of the year. Here’s to a productive October.
8 months have come and gone in 2008, so let’s review the goals.
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. Yesterday wrapped up the 35th project of the year. August brought the completion of the Smarty Pants Press Book, the Del Close Marathon, the opportunity to improvise, the taping of a sketch, and of course the 6am wake up call.
- A Joke a Day. We’re now at a total of 244 jokes, with my favorites from August being: a Freudian Slip, Pepto-Bismol, and Love Conquers All.
- Perform Comedy 53 times. With 4 performances in August, I am now up to 38 for the year; only 15 more to go.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. I’m really happy with the sketch that I made for one of this month’s projects. I’ll be posting it soon, and we’ll see how high we can get it.
- Publish an Article. I’ll be sharing some changes I’m planning on making with the site soon, which should hopefully feed into this goal.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. Things are going great with the internal blog, and I’m easily in the Top 10, if not Top 5.
- Start a business. Solid work, but it’s not a business till it’s made some money, so I’m still working on this one.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. Other than one incredibly busy week, I was pretty consistent with working out in August. The guns are at 13.125″ to show for it.
- Never hit Snooze. The 6am Challenge was a good one and I’m currently at 7 days without hitting the snooze button.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. Still nothing major in this area.
Well the close of August brings another month closer to the end of the year. I made some good progress this month, especially in the last 2 weeks. Hopefully I can continue to wake up at 6am, which should help me get some of the other stuff done, and I’m really excited about some of the changes that will be coming to the site soon.
Man, it is hard to believe that it has already been 6 months since the start of 2008 and my move to NYC. 200GREAT is rolling right a long, so let’s check in on my goals.
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. 26 projects are now complete. June focused on learning Pachelbel’s Canon, where I learned the chords, memorized them, practiced them, and worked on the strumming rhythm. This week I’ll record me playing it, and we’ll finished with Pachelbel’s.
- A Joke a Day. 182 jokes. Some favorites in June: Amish Electric Slide, Server crash, and Noah’s Ark.
- Perform Comedy 53 times. With only two performances in June, I’m now at 32. Still ahead of the weekly average, but I’ve slowed down noticeably.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. I’ve started Sketch writing classes, and Matt and I have taped a sketch, but we still have to do the editing.
- Publish an Article. No progress here.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. I was really good about posting here… for a week. I need to really figure out what I need to focus on this one.
- Start a business. This is going to be the top priority in July.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. Still at 13″. I haven’t been hitting the weight room like I should be.
- Never hit Snooze. This one is lost completely.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. No one’s really asked for my help so far…
Oh June; it went by so quick. The nice thing is that I’m now doing some form of comedy three times a week (improv class, writing class, and stand-up). But I need to really make some headway against my identified goals. 2008 really has to be a great year for all things comedy, hopefully July will get me back to being focused.
Another 30 days have passed in 200GREAT. With 1/4 of the year gone, let’s take a look at the year-long goals.
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. We are 14 projects in. In March, I created my Business Cards, caught up on all of my Notes, picked out 15 Minutes of stand-up, had some fun with Voice Exploration, and just started Improving my Style.
- A Joke a Day. 91 jokes and counting. Highlights from March: Packing Heat, a long poem, and some TBS Censorship.
- Perform Comedy 53 times. March was another good month. Thanks to a weekend at the Richmond Funny Bone, I was able to get on stage 9 times, doubling January and February combined and taking the total up to 18.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. I’ve put a couple of small things together and have begun holding writing sessions with some fellow 8th Flo Hos. Hopefully we’ll have at least one video done in April.
- Publish an Article. Not much progress here, though I have been doing some research on places I could publish, such as Ezine Articles.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. I dropped a little in the whole “posting 2x a week thing,” but I just wrote a solid article that I’m proud of. Now I just need to keep that momentum going. Also, a quick unofficial check puts me at #16, so it’s certainly doable.
- Start a business. The past couple of days I’ve been researching a lot on Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization. There was also an interesting challenge back in August that has produced some good research material – The Thirty Day Challenge.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. Travel and laziness got me down, so I’m still at 13″.
- Never hit Snooze. Ok, I’ll be honest. March was so bad that I don’t even know what number I’m at. BUT, I have stumbled on a way that has provided some help to waking up. Now Pat and I IM each other when we wake up and force ourselves to hold a 5-minute conversation. By the time we’re done chatting, we’re generally past the point of going back to sleep.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. I helped a friend with a resume, so that kind of counts. But for this one I want it to be bigger than that. Still searching for that opportunity.
Overall it was a good month. I was happy to have a chance to MC in another Funny Bone. I’m really getting into some of this business stuff, so hopefully I’ll make some headway on that soon. The fitness really needs to be a focus in April, so we’ll see if I can get pumped.
