2-thousand-GREAT: January in Review

Wow, we’re already 31 days into 200GREAT.  It’s hard to believe in only 1 month I’ve moved over 650 miles away from friends and family and started a completely new role at work.  While the transition alone is enough of an accomplishment for a month, let’s check to see how I did against my year-long goals.

  1. 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. 4 projects are now in the books.  I’ve set up my place, worked on The 8th Floor’s Best of Season 2, and Special Features, and caught up on some miscellaneous tasks.  Unfortunately due to a posting blunder by myself, I owe a fellow co-worker $100 for missing one of the items in the Ketchup project.  All in all, still a productive month.
  2. A Joke a Day. 31 days, 31 jokes.  Some of my favorites: pimple braille, parent’s marriage, and a couple of pale jokes.
  3. Perform Comedy 53 times. With all of the hustle and bustle around the move, it took me some time to get out to some of the open mics.  Luckily I was able to find one close to the apartment and made my NYC comedy debut on 1/29.  It went OK, people enjoyed the set, but I know I could’ve done even better.
  4. Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. I have a few ideas for different videos that could potentially yield this result, but I’m nowhere near close to working on them.
  5. Publish an Article. Similar to the YouTube one, I’ve got some ideas floating around in the ol’ noggin, but that’s it.
  6. Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. I’ve only made one post this entire month, which is not going to help me get into the Top 10 at all.  I’ve committed to starting the blog back up in February, so hopefully I can start to drive traffic once again.
  7. Start a business. A few brainstorming sessions have taken place, but not much else.
  8. Have 13.5″ Guns. I’ve been averaging about 2 days a week in the weight room, which isn’t bad, but really needs to be 3x a week.  Nevertheless I’ve made some improvement and am sporting 12.875″ miniature pistols.
  9. Never hit Snooze. Unfortunately I won’t achieve the status of “never,” but I don’t want to write this one off yet.  As a friend of mine is doing, I’ll just have to keep score like golf and try to keep the number as low as possible.  The current total is 2.  (And don’t complain about me “stealing his idea,” who did he get his challenge from in the first place?)
  10. Help Someone Achieve a Goal. I haven’t made any specific progress on this goal, though I think in a small way I’ve helped.  For example, two of my friends have now challenged me to my own challenges- they’re betting me that they can perform stand-up more times and lift more weights (an extension of the guns challenge) than me.  Regardless of who wins, in a way the challenge between the three of us will help all three of us get better.

There’s still a lot of progress to be made in every challenge.  Luckily there are 11 months left to try to do so.  Here’s to another productive month, and we’ll see you at the end of February.
