September hasn’t gone quite like I thought it might, but it has been a productive month on the filming front.
I haven’t done any additional editing on the Shoot from the Hip film since we’re still working on all of the scheduling for it; I didn’t see a new, indie or foreign film; and I didn’t memorize a monologue.
I did, however, read two great books on film (Making Movies and In the Blink of an Eye), watch 5 movies, get the short film to 99% completion, spend hours reading about tropes, and learn about how to deconstruct a genre.
Much of the change this month came from how The Movie class at UCB is setup. Each week we are assigned a genre from which we must watch at least one movie. Then in class we’ll discuss the genre and some of the tropes of it (and thus the research above).
So overall a little different than what I expected, but productive nonetheless.
