The focus of May was to work on staying connected with friends and family and to make some new friends in New York.
Staying connected with friends is somewhat simple, but in a more simplistic way. Facebook makes it incredibly easy to just post on someone’s wall or send a message to see what’s going on. Making calls isn’t nearly as common any more, but is a ton more personal.
Staying connected with friends in the city can be challenging at times as well, especially when many of those friends are just as busy as you are. Luckily planned events like improv practice and Week in Review can make it easier. In fact it’s these kinds of planned events that are how I meet most of the new people I meet in the city. Thanks to improv, sketch, WIR, and various events of friends, I’ve made new 11 friends in the month of May. Of course some of these are currently only “Facebook Friends” but who knows, that could change in the future.
As for staying connected to the family, I tried a lot more this month to stay in touch. For the most part I think I did a good job. I know what’s going on what with the brothers, mother and even pops to some extent, which is always good.
Overall it was a good month and though it was a “focus,” I don’t want it to end now that the month is over. Rather I hope I can continue to always focus on relationships every month. Now if everyone just did that, it’d be a lot easier for all of us to stay connected.
