2-thousand-GREAT: Year in Review
2008 is over! 1 year; 53 weeks; 366 days; 8,784 hours… and it’s all over I had quite a lot that I wanted to finish in the year, and even more that came up unexpectedly. Here’s a look at how I finished with my 2008 goals:
- 53 Weeks of Drewy Goodness. COMPLETE
Every week for the entire year I focused on a key project. I covered projects ranging from fixing up my place to learning a song on guitar to making a comedy album.
- A Joke a Day. COMPLETE
366 days led to 366 jokes. Check out the best jokes of 2008 (and the worst as well).
- Perform Comedy 53 times. COMPLETE
Over the course of 57 performances, I explored and experimented with a number of different styles and jokes. I was able to put together a comedy CD of the best moments of the year and am very proud of the results.
- Get over 100,000 views on YouTube. INCOMPLETE
I only created a handful of videos this year, none of them with the quality that it takes to spread virally.
- Publish an Article. COMPLETE
I was able to get an article published, but it was perhaps the easiest way to do it–at EzineArticles.com: “How to Be Funny As a Stand-up Comedian”.
- Break into Top 10 Internal Blogs at P&G. COMPLETE
I’ve gone back and forth with how often I blog at P&G, and there are a couple of ways to determine the “Top” blogs, but by all measures I rank somewhere in the Top 10.
- Start a business. INCOMPLETE
I’ve technically started a business but it has still made less than a dollar. I’ve learned a ton so far about the process, but it’s not where I wanted it to be.
- Have 13.5″ Guns. INCOMPLETE
This too fluctuated quite a bit. One month I’d hit the gym 3-4 times a week, other weeks not at all. I technically get to 13.5″ directly after working out, but that doesn’t count. At least I am finishing the year higher than I started.
- Never hit Snooze. INCOMPLETE
Hahaha, oh how I was ambitious on this goal. I started off fine, but then relapsed. I then succeeded for awhile and then ended poorly. The key is for me to follow my own advice of how to Stop Hitting Snooze and Wake Up Early.
- Help Someone Achieve a Goal. COMPLETE
There were a few minor things I helped people with, but the big one was to help a friend check off one of his own goals. The interesting thing is that it wasn’t really an intentional thing, it just came about and seemed like the natural thing to do.
On the year I was able to complete 6 out of 10 goals to my satisfaction, a 60% average. This is actually slightly worse than last year, but at least it is showing that I’m challenging myself. As was the case in 2007, I’m proud of what I was able to do, and will look to further challenge myself in 2009.
