New Year’s Eve and Day were a blast. The family and I spent the evening on Bourbon Street and saw some fireworks as the clock struck midnight.

I’m pretty proud of myself–I was able to do about 90% of my shopping in less than an hour in only 3 stores. I decided to go with a New York theme and pickup some touristy-like items for my family members since they can’t get them anywhere else and is connected to me.

Project #51 – Begin Apartment Hunting (Review)

I found out early this week that I have until January 31st in my current place, meaning I have a little more time to look at apartments than I thought. With that in mind, I did take a look at a few different areas on the West Side (from LWS to Midtown) and I think the most ideal spot for me will be in the Garmet District (around 34th and 8th).

Now I just need to find an actual place to stay…

Project #50 – Make a Few HTW Site Changes (Review)

With the minor revisions made to the site completed, I think I’m finally happy with the design. Of course that may change in the near future depending on any strategic changes that come as a result of the upcoming year in review.

It’s been a pretty good week for humor writing, and I’m happy with some of the posts that will be coming over the next couple of weeks. It’s also a good feeling to know that most of the work for the humor site is now done for the rest of the year, freeing up time for other December activities.

Project #48 – Enjoy Thanksgiving (Review)

This year’s Thanksgiving was a fun one. While it was sad to not be with the family, I did enjoy some time with friends in NYC. The food was pretty good considering it was cooked by 3 bachelors with little cooking experience, and the company was even better. Turkey Day mission accomplished.

Project #47 – Large Group Facilitation (Review)

Whether it’s 6 people or 60, I’ve realized that I enjoy facilitating workshops. The communication workshop seemed to go over very well with a number of people verbalizing how much they liked it.

Of course we’ll see what the anonymous survey results say, but overall I am happy with how the workshop went.

Project #46 – AIN Presentation (Review)

The AIN conference was a blast; I met a number of awesome people, learned a lot about applied improv, and led my first facilitation for facilitators type training.

The 1on1 Coaching session went well and helped me solidify my own thoughts on the practice. All in all, a great extended weekend in Portland.

Project #45 – Prioritize (Review)

After careful deliberations and a few great conversations with myself and others, I’ve decided my number 1 priority for the remainder of the year is improv.

That means improv takes precedence over things like a book and even the humor site, although I will continue to work on those when possible. Then, once 2010 rolls around, I’ll re-evaluate the priorities yet again to make sure I’m focused on the most important tasks.

Project #44 – Survive the Workweek (Review)

Between launching a new tool, defining my work for the next 2 years, and spending 8 hours a day in meetings, it was quite the work week. Fortunately I was able to survive with my head above water. That’s not to say this coming week won’t be busy, but it should be manageable.
