Project #46 - Create Some Improv Videos (Review)

Finding improv exercises that were applicable to the business world was easy.  Finding improv exercises that are designed for only a single person was much harder.  Still, I was able to create 5 videos that highlight improv exercises that you can do to improve various aspects of your work.

Unfortunately Youtube takes forever to load new videos, so I’ll be posting them over the next few days (notice that the project was to create the videos, which I’ve done, but not necessarily upload them by the end of tonight).  In the meantime,  here’s the video that kicks off the whole Humor at Work Video Series.

Project #45 - Submit an Article (Review)

UPDATE: My article got posted on EzineArticles - How to Be Funny As a Stand-up Comedian.

While I didn’t get quite as far as I wanted to in this project, I did submit an article like I wanted to (at EzineArticles.com).  It takes up to a week to have the article reviewed and selected, so we’ll know by the end of next week if I can cross one of my goals off the checklist.

I wanted to submit a couple of articles to a couple of outlets, but that will have to happen some other time.  Hopefully in the near future, I’ll have submissions for:

Project #44 - Web Cram-off Video Contest (Review)

It’s amazing how having an upcoming deadline can force you to get something done. Our video submission was due on Wednesday, so we shot on Sunday, made initial edits on Monday, finalized them on Tuesday, and turned the DVD in on Wednesday.

The good news is that we made it in as a finalist! The bad news is that means I can’t share the video until after we learn who won when they screen the video at UCB this Wednesday. Either way it goes, it was definitely great to just get something done.

Project #43 - Personal Development for Smart People (Review)

Man what a long (but amazingly productive) week it has been.  It was hard to find time to sit down at home and read Personal Development for Smart people, but luckily subway trips make for a great second option.  The short summary is that I would recommend the book to anyone looking to explore more ideas around personal growth.  Though the book is more theory based, there are a few good exercises that could help anyone reach a new level of personal development.

Be sure to check out the full review of Personal Development for Smart People.

Project #42 - Survive the Week (Review)

Surprisingly, the week wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it might be.  It certainly was an interesting challenge of working for 2 hours, then improvising for 3, then going back to work, but it was a little more manageable by identifying my motivating and demotivating triggers.

As it turns out, this upcoming week will likely be even busier than this one, but at least I have one week of the interesting schedule behind me.
